So I know she's controversial and many people hate her but I ADORE Lana Del Rey.
Her latest video has, not surprisingly, generated some negative chatter but it gave me chills. Also, she is totally channeling my style direction in this video. She nails it perfectly. If I could have that gorgeous blue dress with the sheer sleeves I would be one happy gal.
Now, some screencaps of my favorite looks!
The dress! EEK!
These aren't from the video but I love these pictures.
So today's look pretty much illustrates my current style direction. I'm in love with 60s Palm Beach Chic. Headbands, bright sheath dresses, headscarves, and bold patterns.
My dress is the Delia from Lilly Pulitzer and I'm in LOVE. I think this is my new favorite dress. I have to say, I'll probably be stocking up on dresses from Lilly from now on. She has this look down perfectly. I think my favorite feature (besides the awesome print) is the tiny little bows at the hem!
My cardigan is from Target and I've had it for over a year now. It's been waiting ever so patiently in my closet for just the right dress. It's incredibly excited to have found a mate! :)
Oh you also get a peek at my fab new vintage purse that I scored in Reno. Don't worry, full haul post coming from that shopping trip!
Butters & Nomi showed off their fancy new bandanas.
I had a nice visit with Lemmy the Lemon while at the movie theatre. We saw Prometheus. Have you seen it yet?
I chopped off a few inches of hair and enjoyed the beating sun and a little wind against my bare neck!
In preparation for the new Dallas I decided to revisit some old ones. It was surprising how much I remembered! Also, the FASHION!
I've been doing really well on Weight Watchers. Since starting I'm down 6.5 lbs! One of the reasons it's going so well is because I get to make amazing things like this delicious Ziti. I made a few alterations to this great recipe. Also, if you are ever looking for healthy options that site is amazing. Every single recipe I've made from there has been super tasty!
Are you on Instagram? If so, let's be friends. You can find me by the username dollydahl.
When it comes to my hair I've always had a bit of a short attention span. I've had it every color of the rainbow and pretty much every style I can think of. If I'm sad, excited, bored, or even unbelievably happy I have to change my hair.
And so, last week, I decided to make another change. I chopped it all off into a cute little bob. I love it!
I was so excited about it that I had to snap a pic right there in the changing room of the Salon!
After a week or so of styling it myself it's going well. It's really easy and I feel pretty darn sassy! It goes really well with all of my 60's mod dresses too which is extra exciting. Oh, and I kind of feel like Enid from Ghost World. Guess we know what my Halloween costume will be this year!
Lately I've been taking a break from the myriad of glitter polishes I own to experiment with some new shades. This polish is an oldie but a goodie and has been hanging out in my nail polish drawer for awhile without any love. Silly me. Now that I've finally tried it, I LOVE it.
Even though Essie Mint Candy Apple is from the 2009 Winter collection it feels perfect for a fun mod look in the summer!
Unfortunately, it's no longer available on the Essie website but I did find plenty available on Amazon if you decide you'd like to have tasty mint fingers!
I have to admit it. If I see another "Braiding" tutorial I'm going to scream. It seems as though every blog I read, every Stumble I get, every Pin I see is all about how to "create a messy side braid" or "try a fishtail braid."Seriously, it's reached epidemic proportions. What's next "How to braid your leg hair?"
So, if like me, you DON'T want to braid your hair. Here are 5 other awesome things you can do with your hair.
Craving a Messy Braid? Try Messy Beachy Curls instead.
Not quite ready to give up braids cold-turkey? Phase it out slowly by twisting instead.
Want another popular messy style? Try a messy bun!
Tired of Messy everything? Try a Beehive.
Want something cute and easy? Try a High Side Ponytail. Bonus points if you add a cute bow clip!
There you go ladies. There are lots of choices out there for cute hair and not a mention of the word braid. So tell me, will you join me in just saying no to braiding?
I know you're busy with auditions and everything but I have a really important hair crisis and I need a little intervention. You see, I've been growing my bangs out for a little while now. They've finally gotten past the really annoying stage and will actually do a cute sideswept thing with a little coaxing. It's groovy.
In the past I've never been very good at growing out my bangs. I always miss them and cut them right when they start to get to a good place.
This time is no different. I have found myself lusting after bangs. All I can think about is bangs, bang bang bang! The only thing stopping me is that I love your hair. Seriously, your glossy, voluminous and non-bang having locks have me going loopy.
I see how it sways when you serenade your sexy husband and how it swooshes when you throw plates against a wall. I want that hair and that doesn't include bangs.
So, please Megan Draper, save me from my scissors!
This is the first time I've been less than excited to do one of these posts but I figured it's only fair to show the meh colors as well as the fun ones. :)
Today I'm wearing Zoya Julieanne. When I saw the bottle I got REALLY excited. It looked gorgeous. I imagined seeing the colors change on my nails like they did in the bottle. WRONG.
The Bottle - Look how pretty it is.
It's not ugly, it's just boring. It's a dark purple with a little eensy bit of glitter/shimmer showing. Nowhere near as pretty as the bottle.
On my fingers. It's just meh
I'll be honest. I only kept this on so that I could share it. It's probably going to change tonight. You can tell I wasn't even that into it while I was painting my nails because I did a really sloppy job.
